The New OLEDs would be As Cheap as Newspapers in the Near Future!
-->In 30 years ago, the televisions are still considered as one of the most expensive household gadgets, as the technology in 1980s is still in a developing stage. However, with the invention of LCDs and plasma Televisions, it shown that the technology is moving in the pace of leaps and boundaries!
A few days ago, the scientists from the RIKEN center in Japan have discovered the brand new method to make OLEDs, by simply using electrospray-deposited polymer films. The research team claimed that this new method have better characteristics than OLEDs, which are made from spin-coated films!
During the experiment, the researchers are using a novel dual-solvent concept to make the electrospray-deposited films smoother than before. Hence, it makes the superior devices become easier to be built!
By the way, OLEDs is the short acronym, which is meaning, “Organic light-emitting diodes”. Basically, it’s a light emitting diode that it’s emissive electroluminescent layer is composed of a film of organic compounds. The layers are usually contains a polymer substance, which is allowing suitable organic components to be deposited into it!
According to Yutaka Yamagata, the leader of the OLEDs research in RIKEN Center, said the research is currently in the final stage. The OLEDs have entered to the market, as it being used to build mobile phones and televisions’ screens. Yamagata strongly believed that the OLEDs could be manufactured as inexpensively as newspapers did, in the upcoming several years…[nanowerk]
